Biography
Arms of Someone New emerged as a darkwave project built around the partnership of Mel Eberle and Steve Jones. The two musicians began working together in 1983 during Eberle’s involvement with his prior band, the First Things, where Jones had served as manager; their shared musical interests soon prompted the creation of a new outlet. Throughout the 1980s the duo issued several independent singles and additional limited recordings on the DDD imprint. In 1986 they signed with the influential Projekt label and supplied a track to its cassette compilation From Across This Gray Land. Two years later they delivered the album The Promise, which later received a new-millennium reissue paired with Love Power & Justice and Susan Sleepwalking.
