Biography
The Azusa Plane served as guitarist Jason DiEmilio’s experimental drone rock moniker, launched in 1995. Its inaugural 7", Vol. 1:Fall/Meander, carried the enigmatic statement “This is volume one...of the ten-volume vinyl collection documenting the existence of the Azusa Plane. Following the tenth volume, the Azusa Plane will disintegrate and cease to exist.” A split single with Fuxa constituted the second installment, after which the project’s third official release, Resonating Subtleties, surfaced on the Shrimper imprint. Numerous non-canonical side projects—compilation appearances, cassettes, one-off singles, and split records alongside Loren MazzaCane Connors, Grimble Grumble, and Juicy Eureka—appeared in rapid succession. Later collaborations with Roy Montgomery and Windy & Carl, together with the 1997 debut album Tycho Magnetic Anomaly and the Full Consciousness of Hidden Harmony, edged the endeavor nearer to its self-declared conclusion.
