Biography
Emerging as yet another casualty of exaggerated promotion by British music journalists, the Bardots assembled in England's East Anglia region during 1989. University acquaintances Simon Dunford on guitar and vocals, Andy Murphy on guitar, Steve Cox on bass, and Neil Cox on drums initiated their musical partnership then. The year 1990 saw the appearance of their debut single Sofaelaine as a flexi-disc. Subsequent to the more established single Sad Anne, guitarist Krzysztof Fijalkowski became the fifth member, earning the group a recording agreement with Cheree Records. Their first album Eye Baby received niche support, which led British music press to hail them as the next big thing. In 1994, following the exit of Murphy and his replacement by Yves Altana, the long-anticipated V-Neck came out but made little impression, after which the ensemble disappeared from view.
