Biography
Though scarcely known figures within rock's broader history, this quartet from the San Francisco Bay region issued only a single disc—the 1967 release "Waiting for You" b/w "Such a Fool" on Belfast 67-1001—yet displayed a level of melodic refinement matched by few peers of the era. Its lineup comprised siblings Jon and Rich Green on lead and bass guitar, Carl DePolo on drums, and Dwight Pitcaithley on rhythm guitar. The band reached the finals of the Cow Palace Band Bash on April 5, 1966, appeared alongside Paul Revere And The Raiders at the Oakland Auditorium later that month, and performed at a KFRC-sponsored event held at the College of San Mateo on October 15th. A subsequent recording session in Los Angeles yielded the two tracks that surfaced in February 1967. Pitcaithley's composition "Waiting for You" bears more than a passing resemblance to the work of a certain Fab Foursome, while "Such a Fool," distinguished by its haunting minor-key arpeggios, acknowledges a debt to The Beau Brummels. Long unavailable commercially, the songs are scheduled to appear in the Ace/Big Beat Records anthology series Nuggets from the Golden State. Another single, "My House" b/w "Luv Look Away," is said to have been cut earlier though it remains unreleased.
