Little is known about the Ipswich group that briefly included Chris Farlowe among its members, beyond the fact that veteran impresario Cyril Stapleton handled their production and that they sought to exploit the short-lived ska and bluebeat craze of 1964 sparked by Millie Small and the Migil Five. Their lone release, pairing “The Blue Beat” with “I Wanna Shout” on English Decca, stood out as an effective piece of opportunism yet vanished almost without a trace. After this fleeting excursion Farlowe rejoined his own outfit, the Thunderbirds, and began issuing solo singles that paved the way for his commercial breakthrough in 1965 and 1966.
