Biography
Active from 1958 through 1972, the Beers Family formed a traditional folk ensemble directed by Bob Beers, born in 1920 and deceased May 26, 1972, with participation from his spouse Evelyne and their daughter Martha, who entered the group in 1964. The musicians specialized in Scots-Irish repertoire performed on period instruments such as the psaltery. In 1966 the family launched the Fox Hollow Festival at their property in the Berkshires. Bob Beers died in an automobile accident in 1972, yet Evelyne and Martha maintained both live performances and the festival’s continuation.
