Biography
The Scottish pop trio Big Dish came together in 1983, centered on vocalist and guitarist Steven Lindsay along with guitarist Brian McFie, bassist Raymond Docherty, and saxophone/keyboard player Ian Ritchie. By 1986 Virgin had signed the band, which then issued the album Swimmer to favorable critical notices yet no chart entry. Their follow-up LP Creeping Up on Jesus likewise made little impact, even though it contained several strong tracks, leading Virgin to drop Big Dish once the label’s calls for additional song material went unanswered. Reduced essentially to the duo of Lindsay and McFie by the start of the 1990s, the act moved to EastWest and delivered Satellites in 1991.
