Biography
The Black Neon, otherwise known as Stephen Webster, had already issued recordings and taken the stage on Memphis Industries alongside Toby Jenkins in the guise of Fort Lauderdale. His first output as a solo artist under the Black Neon name arrived via the Memphis Industries 7" single "You're So Vain" in 2001. Enthusiasts of synth pop and club sounds warmly embraced the follow-up 12" "Your Sex Life," which surfaced twelve months afterward. Four years of inactivity preceded the September 2006 release of Arts & Crafts, an album that includes contributions from psychedelic and prog rock figures Falk U. Rogner of Amon Düül, Harald Grosskopf of Ash Ra Tempel, and Yasuhiro Otani.
