The Black Swan Effect

Origin: U.S.A

Black Swan Effect arose in England from a partnership between Reef drummer Dominic Greensmith and singer/songwriter Gareth Hale, producing anxious yet emotionally vivid alt-rock that continually reshapes itself in the manner of Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Kings of Leon, and Alt-J. The two had first performed together as longtime friends fifteen years before the band formed; afterward Greensmith appeared onstage with Peter Gabriel, Mick Jones, and Ray Davies, while Hale chose a path outside music. They resumed working together in 2012 when Greensmith’s director wife commissioned them to score a documentary, and the sessions soon yielded far more songs than the film required. Jesse Wood and John Hogg completed the lineup, allowing the group to sign with Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records through its “Society of Sound” subscription series and to issue the debut album Admission in 2013.
