Biography
The Boggs formed around vocalist/guitarist Jason Friedman, slide guitarist Zeke Healy, drummer Brad Conroy, and banjo player Phil Roebuck, who launched their raw, stripped-down folk sound by busking on Brooklyn, NY street corners and subway platforms throughout the winter of 2001. A performance at New York's Mercury Lounge the next spring prompted Arena Rock to sign the group. In February 2002 the label issued the band's first album, We Are the Boggs We Are.
