Biography
Formed initially by Greg Holland and Steven Warmack, two songwriters who first connected as friends in Little Rock, AR, The BosweLLs spent months crafting material, laying down tracks, and simply spending time together. The reels they forwarded to industry acquaintances soon drew enthusiastic feedback, prompting the pair to commit to a proper demo. They taught themselves overdubbing techniques and handled every instrument before entering the studio for a single weekend as a duo. Although labels responded positively to the results, they insisted on signing an actual band rather than the two-piece. Bassist Stacy Smith, guitarist Richard LeSound, and drummer Alan McCalman were therefore brought aboard, and the expanded lineup cut 4 Huge Songs!. An eponymous EP followed shortly afterward, generating wider interest through the group’s presence on multiple download platforms. This momentum eventually allowed the band to issue its debut full-length album, Planet Nine, as a self-released project during the summer of 2002.
