Biography
In July 2002 the Bridges came together as a pop/rock family band built around siblings Natalie Byrd (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Stacey Byrd (vocals, guitar), Isaaca Byrd (bass), and Jeremy Byrd (drums), plus their cousin Brittany Painter (lead vocals, guitar). Although the group began in North Carolina, its members later moved to Oxford, AL, taking up residence in a single house whose basement served as a rehearsal space. Their luminous pop aesthetic, anchored by three-part harmonies, reflects touchstones that stretch from late-era Fleetwood Mac through the Beatles and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; even while echoing those 1960s and 1970s models, the band’s execution feels bracingly fresh. Verve Records signed the Bridges in December 2007, prompting an initial collaboration with Matthew Sweet that produced the album Limits of the Sky the following summer.
