The Brock sisters—Bobbe (born Josephine Brock on 28 November 1901 in Riverton, Iowa, and deceased 2 May 1999 in Glen Falls, New York), Kathlyn (born Kathleen Brock on 14 June 1906 in Winchester, Kentucky, and deceased 27 August 1988 in New York), and Lorayne (born Eunice Brock on 11 November 1898 in Memphis, Tennessee, and deceased 14 June 1993 in Los Angeles, California)—formed an American vocal trio raised in Edmonton, Canada. After adopting the professional surname Brox, the three entered the entertainment world during the early 1920s through successive Broadway engagements that included the Music Box Revue in 1921, 1923, and 1924, followed by the Ziegfeld Follies in 1927. Their first recordings comprised two sides for Brunswick Records; shortly afterward they secured an exclusive contract with Victor Records. Like many stage artists of the period, they translated their stage success into motion-picture work, most notably appearing in the 1930 hit The King Of Jazz. Despite their contemporary popularity, the Brox Sisters brought no comparable inventive spirit to close-harmony singing as the Boswell Sisters and lacked the later exuberance associated with the Andrews Sisters. In 1969 Bobbe Brox wed songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen.
