Biography
An indie electronic outfit from Toronto, Ontario, the Cansecos issued their first full-length album in 2002 through the Upper Class Recordings label. At its center stand the writing and production partnership of Bill Halliday, performing as Billionaire, and Gareth Jones, known as Generous G, with Paul Prince on bass and Dan McCormick on drums completing the roster. That self-titled debut came out on Upper Class Recordings, the Toronto indie imprint Jones co-manages. Five years afterward the group delivered Juices! (2007), highlighted by the popular song “Raised by Wolves,” whose various remixes appeared in digital formats. Two bootleg albums followed digitally in 2008: Juiced!, a disco mash-up rendering of the preceding record, and Showers, presented as a disco mix. The Cansecos were also enlisted to rework Sally Shapiro’s “Hold Me So Tight,” the Black Kids’ “Hurricane Jane,” and additional tracks.
