Biography
Emerging from the unlikely locale of Edina, an affluent Minneapolis suburb, the alternative country trio the Carpetbaggers formed in 1991 when guitarists Mike Crabtree and John Magnuson teamed with upright bassist Rich Copley. Their first two independent releases, the 1992 album Country Miles Apart and the 1993 follow-up Nowhere to Go But Down, both drew strong notices and secured a string of high-profile support dates with Son Volt. The group returned in 1996 with Sin Now...Pray Later.
