The Cautions

Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, the Cautions fuse the punchy energy of current punk-pop hitmakers Blink 182 with the sleek new-wave stylings of vintage icons like the Cars. Eric Barao supplies lead vocals, guitar, and synth, Jeff Caglarcan handles guitar, Matt Boynton plays bass and sings, and Chris Newbern covers drums and vocals. The project’s roots extend to 1992, when Barao and Caglarcan first met as students at Berklee College of Music. After several personnel shifts, the pair recruited the remaining musicians, leading to the Cautions’ official launch in February 2000 and their initial concert appearance that April. One year later the quartet issued its debut self-titled album, which drew praise from Boston Soundcheck and Metronome, each naming the record among its top five releases of the month.
