Biography
The Chapman Family coalesced in 2005 around the contributions of Kingsley, Paul, Pop, and Phil Chapman, forging a distinctive fusion of folk-inspired post-punk, new wave, and indie rock shaped by their northeast England base. Their inaugural concert occurred on May 5, 2006, prompting 250 further performances across subsequent years together with placements on assorted compilations and exposure on local, national, and international radio. Celebrated for raw, high-impact gigs that routinely left their gear demolished by the close of each evening, the band issued its first single in 2008 through Don't Tell Clare Records. Following multiple festival engagements, the long-anticipated debut album Burn Your Town arrived in 2011 on Electric Toaster, with the 2012 EP Cruel Britannia emerging soon after to reveal a fiercer yet more seasoned sensibility.
