Biography
A New York City-based trio called The Charmettes recorded material for Hi, Marlin, World Artists and assorted other labels. Their 1965 release on the last of these, the impassioned "Stop the Wedding," constituted a soulful piece of girl group melodrama marked by a dense arrangement and a beautiful lead vocal performance, especially in the spoken part; these Charmettes are not to be confused with a Midwestern outfit of the same name.
