Distinguishing the New York ensemble called the Children from multiple other groups that used the same name, the quartet fused folk-rock and jangle-pop while featuring vocalists and songwriters Claudia Handler and Joe Jedrlinic alongside Theresa Pesco and Michael LaVolpe. The band first recorded for Scale of Miles and issued two albums: its self-titled 1989 debut followed by Every Single Day in 1990.
