Biography
Indie rock outfit the Coach and Four originated in Memphis, Tennessee, during 2001 when drummer Daniel Farris and bassist Tony Dixon—previously the rhythm section of Staynless—launched the project as an extension of their instrumental side effort Breathe You Are Alive. The ensemble took its name from a run-down Memphis hotel. Brad Stanfill on guitar, Luke White on guitar, and Jon David Lovelace on keyboards completed the initial roster. After cultivating a local audience and performing throughout the region, the Coach and Four issued a self-titled EP that led to a deal with Makeshift Records. The label put out the band's first full-length release, Unlimited Symmetry, in January 2004. When the follow-up album The Great Escape appeared on February 20, 2007, the lineup had shifted to Farris, White, Stanfill, and bassist Brandon Robertson.
