Biography
Unfolding a restless blend of garage sounds and rock and roll, the Cool Jerks inject fresh energy into the intense world of indie and punk. The band came together in 2001 with Scott Rogers handling bass, guitarists Dave Boyer and Forrest Hewes—both previously of the Neckbones—and Jack Yarber on drums, already known from the Oblivians and the Compulsive Gamblers. After the Neckbones ended and following an initial stretch of joint playing, Rogers and Boyer reached out to assemble the full group for their first record. Issued through Sympathy For the Record Industry, that debut, titled Cleaned Up a Lot of Plates In Memphis, reached stores in July 2002.
