Biography
In 2007 the Austin-based indie rock outfit the Corto Maltese first drew notice after issuing a three-song demo. The lineup of Ben Maddox (vocals/guitar), Tyler Thompson (guitar), Wes Turner (bass), and Justin Roberts (drums) repeatedly drew comparisons to former indie buzz band Arcade Fire while also acknowledging the influence of Berlin-era David Bowie. Regional gigs throughout the Austin, Texas, area, one of which took place at South by Southwest in March 2008, generated additional interest in the band.
