Biography
The Creations formed as a brief Cleveland-based outfit whose lineup included Annette Tucker, Claude Robinson, Rudolph Rome, and two unnamed participants. Tucker’s longstanding interest in the entertainment world led her to connect with Johnny Bristol during one of his Cleveland stops alongside Jackey Beavers, performing together as Johnny & Jackey. The Detroit duo made frequent trips to perform at the Play-Mor, the Circle Ballroom, and additional local clubs. On Marty Conn’s Patti Jo imprint—named for one of his girlfriends—the group cut its lone 45, pairing “You’ll Always Be Mine” with “Seventeen.” Although the single found favor at Skateland and the Play Mor, regional enthusiasm failed to translate into sales. A dispute with Conn resulted in the act’s removal from the roster, prompting the members to split and follow separate paths. Tucker subsequently wed Edwin Starr, born Charles Hatcher, though the marriage later ended in divorce; she eventually settled in Las Vegas.
