Biography
Growing up amid Chicago's northwestern suburbs fostered in vocalist and guitarist Kevin Mantegna, drummer Marty Winer, and bassist Todd Rusin an early affinity for The Beatles, The Who, and Cheap Trick. That foundation spurred the trio to develop their own fusion of 1960s power-pop and psychedelic rock, which in turn prompted the formation of The Critics. The band quickly tracked a demo plus two compilation appearances before unveiling its debut full-length, Raintree, in 1995.
