Biography
In late 1996, lead singer Davey MacManus, guitarist Dan Boone, bass player Rich Turpin, and drummer Owen Cash united in Aberystwth, Wales, during their university years and adopted the name The Crocketts from a nickname linked to MacManus. After finishing college the next year, the group shifted focus to live shows and put out the EP Hello And Good Morning in September of 1997, with the song "Stunner" gaining airplay on MTV's Daria while the release itself prompted comparisons to The Pogues and The Clash. Following a signing with Blue Dog Records, The Crocketts issued the full-length We May Be Skinny And Wiry as a successor to Hello And Good Morning, which earned them notice on the independent charts. They resurfaced in 1999 with The Great Brain Robbery.
