The Damage Manual stood out as an old, loud, and snotty post-punk/industrial supergroup assembled from iconic figures whose careers had frequently crossed paths. Scene pioneers Martin Atkins (PiL, Pigface), Jah Wobble (PiL), Geordie Walker (Killing Joke), and Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks) made up the quartet, which put out its ferocious debut EP on Atkins’ Invisible label in early 2000. Although the release evoked earlier achievements, it sidestepped nostalgia entirely and carried the same immediacy as newer acts. The four musicians toured in support of that EP throughout summer 2000, after which their self-titled full-length CD appeared later in the year and led to further live dates.
