The Dark Horses

Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Though a staunchly traditional country band hailing from New York City may seem improbable, the Dark Horses embody precisely that reality. Established in 1997, the ensemble refined its approach through energetic performances that blended alternative influences with longstanding country traditions. Village Voice singled out the act as essential viewing. Between 2000 and 2001 the musicians worked alongside Eric Amble to capture their first recording. Come Along appeared in 2001 via Going Nowhere Music. Observers have likened the Dark Horses to the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Eagles while noting their roots-rock leanings akin to those of the National and Wilco. The group persists in touring across the United States, with particular emphasis on dates in and near its home city.
