Biography
Originating from Newport in South Wales, the Death of Her Money quickly became regulars on the Welsh live circuit. School friends Darren Kaskie and Ian Charles first joined forces with original bassist Nicky Williams for informal sessions shaped by the sounds of Pelican, Isis, and Nirvana. Early support slots alongside This Will Destroy You and the Icarus Line helped the group build a devoted underground audience across their home region.
A steady stream of recordings followed, encompassing several singles and EPs along with the albums Spirit of the Stairwell and You Are Loved. The former earned widespread critical praise. Issued in 2011 through the Russian imprint Slow Burn Records, You Are Loved expanded the band’s reach beyond Wales, drawing particular interest across Eastern Europe. Bass duties later passed to Alex Morgan. A subsequent split 7" with Russian outfit Helga paved the way for an Eastern European tour that included dates in Russia and Ukraine.
