Biography
The Deirdres deliver indie pop through a shambling, puckish style built on shouts and melodicas, echoing the work of Los Campesinos!, Bearsuit, and Little My. Formed in 2006 and based in Derby, England, the seven-piece lineup features Crofto Deirdre, Ramble Deirdre, Sparkle Deirdre, Russkies Deirdre, Fairy Deirdre, Ginger Deirdre, and Keirdre Deirdre. Cloudberry issued the group's debut single, Dinosaurs That Can Swim, in the fall of 2007. Their first EP, Why Do My Glasses Give You the Heeby Jeebys?, appeared on Sweden's Cosy Records the following summer. Cherryade Records released the subsequent 7" single Milk Is Politics/Sir Michael of Aspel a few months later.
