Biography
Emerging from the East L.A. scene shared with Los Lobos and El Chicano, the Delgado Brothers—frontman Joe, bassist Bob, drummer Steve, and keyboard player Billy Steinway—largely set aside Hispanic influences in favor of blues/R&B and their sweet vocal harmonies. The Hightone label signed the group, which then collaborated with producers Bruce Bromberg and Dennis Walker (Robert Cray) on the 1987 album The Delgado Brothers.
After a period of low visibility through the early 1990s, John "Juke" Logan persuaded the Delgado Brothers to regroup. They brought in percussionist Ray Solis to strengthen their Latin beat and R&B mix. The Mocombo label released "Let's Get Back," restoring the Delgados to active status as they kept performing up and down the West Coast.
