Biography
The Designer Drugs first assembled in 2005 as a Boston, MA-based psychobilly unit whose sound also incorporates glam-punk elements. Their initial full-length album, By Rx Only, reached stores in 2008 through Altercation Records. Emily Dee fronts the group on vocals while Rodney Schuyler and Dain Fiacco handle guitar, Juston Speed plays bass, and Barry Lurker occupies the drum kit; the members acknowledge debts to New York punk outfits including the New York Dolls and the Ramones, British punk acts such as the Clash and Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Johnny Cash as well.
