Biography
Active on the Los Angeles punk scene during the closing years of the 1970s, The Dils ranked among its most popular attractions. The Kinman brothers, Chip and Tony, who provided vocal harmonies, guided the band through concise, intense tracks featuring lyrics steeped in politics and frequently reflecting socialist perspectives. Over the course of their four-year run, just three 7-inch singles saw release; any full-length records appeared only after the band's dissolution, drawn from those singles along with assorted live recordings. Eventually, the outfit transformed into Rank and File.
