Biography
Emerging from Seattle, Washington, at the start of 2003, The Divorce formed as a brash young trio of pals. Shane Berry fronted the group on vocals and guitar, with Jimmy Curran on bass and Kyle Risan behind the drums. Their hypercolor melodies and grating guitars meshed with more blatant new wave influences plus the members’ own youthful naïveté, securing instant cachet in the Seattle music community. Heavy rotation on area modern rock outlets drew the notice of local startup Fugitive, which promptly signed the young group and released the debut album There Will Be Blood Tonight in May 2003.
