The Domino State, an English indie outfit, encounter the identical predicament once faced by Unbelievable Truth, fronted by Andy Yorke, brother of Radiohead's Thom: their recorded work remains eclipsed by a family tie to one of the planet's most prominent groups. Guitarists Tim Buckland, sibling of Coldplay's Jonny, and Jim Machin joined forces with lead vocalist Matt Forder, bassist Wil Padley, and drummer Rich Simic after the dissolution of At the Lake, establishing the new project in London during 2007. Drawing from the 1990s shoegaze pioneered by My Bloody Valentine and Ride alongside the post-punk new wave associated with the Chameleons and the Sounds, the quintet issued the singles "What's the Question?" and "Firefly" on the Club AC30 imprint prior to affiliating with Exhibition Records in 2009. Having developed new material alongside producer Joe Adams, known for his work with Depeche Mode, they subsequently opened for Coldplay, M83, and Long-View across U.K. dates, appeared at Glastonbury and Summer Sundae Weekend, and delivered their first full-length release, Uneasy Lies the Crown, in 2010.
