Biography
The indie rock outfit the Drive Back, based in Minneapolis, traces its roots to the members' middle school days. Guitarist/vocalist Craig Casey, bassist Troy Pinard, and drummer Grady Kenevan first began experimenting with music around age 12, yet the complete lineup did not come together until early 2003, when lead guitarist/vocalist Jon Evans joined. Their debut release, the Leave to Arrive EP, arrived later that year and demonstrated the group's abilities both as performers and as self-producers. Several years of intense touring followed, allowing the band to build a steady following throughout the Midwest in the early 2000s. The second EP, Autumnmotive, surfaced in 2006 as another in-house production that adopted a slightly more emo-tinged approach and moved nearly 1,000 copies during its first six months. The Drive Back continue to tour extensively.
