Biography
Dum Dum Boys came together as a rock & roll outfit in Nice on the French Riviera during the mid-'80s. Drawing from the unpolished energy of Suicide, the Velvet Underground, and the Stooges, the group took its name from an Iggy Pop composition. Their first release, the 1987 single "Real Cool Trash/Point of No Return," was followed a year later by the debut album Nothing Means Nothing on Closer Records. Across the subsequent ten years the quartet issued four additional LPs that moved through fuzz-driven punk and rock approaches, ranging from the '60s-garage textures of 1994's Hypnovista to the analog-synth emphasis of 1998's Electronic Pop Music. The band stayed productive into the early 2000s, issuing Soul Bondage Deluxe in 2001 and Kiss Me Deadly in 2003, before nearly ten years elapsed until the next studio recording. Flesh! Trash! Heat! arrived in 2011 as a strong comeback, blending garage-driven tracks with trippy, lo-fi electro-rock. After inking a deal with the Nice-based independent label Mono-Tone Records, they cut Alive in the Echo Chamber in 2013, once more showcasing their breadth across an array of noisy approaches. Their tenth studio album, Electrified!, surfaced in 2016, again on Mono-Tone.
