Biography
The Echocentrics, an Austin-rooted psychedelic collective, functions as the primary outlet for Grammy-winning producer and musician Adrian Quesada. His Latin-flavored rock and funk have likewise surfaced through his work with Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, and Ocote Soul Sounds. Drawing on a deep affinity for Latin funk and soul from the 1960s and 1970s, Quesada began shaping psych-oriented tracks that he sent to Argentinian singer Natalia Clavier and Brazilian singer Tita Lima. The resulting long-distance, multi-cultural partnership produced the 2011 album Sunshadows, which fused a distinctly Texan approach with cinematic Latin funk. Quesada’s next effort, Echo Hotel, appeared in 2016 and again incorporated vocal contributions from both Clavier and Lima, as well as fellow Austinites James Petralli (White Denim, Bop English) and Alex Maas (the Black Angels).
