Biography
Everdawn, a Swedish outfit, brought together Pierre Tornkvist handling vocals and guitar alongside Patrik Tornkvist on guitar, Niklas Svensson on bass, and Oskar Karlsson on drums, each of whom had previously played in Gates of Ishtar and Decortication. Transitioning from the traditional black metal style heard on their 1996 EP Opera of the Damned, the group pursued a quicker death/thrash metal approach for their initial full-length release in 1997, Poems -- Burn the Past, one that echoed, or as some claimed directly replicated, the style of their Scandinavian peers At the Gates. Issued through Metal Blade records, that effort failed to achieve significant commercial success, leading the band to eventually cease operations.
