Biography
In the canyons of Los Angeles, the five-piece Everpresent Fullness assembled around singer/guitarist Tom Carvey, lead guitarist Paul Johnson, bassist Steve Pugh, drummer Terry Hand, and multi-instrumentalist Jack Ryan. Their 1965 formation brought together pop, country-rock, and ragtime elements, resulting in frequent bills alongside the Buffalo Springfield and the Sir Douglas Quintet; those Turtles support dates soon attracted White Whale Records, which issued the band’s Warren Zevon-written debut single “Wild About My Lovin’” in 1966. That summer marked their creative peak, as they began tracking a full-length LP and headlined an August Fillmore bill in San Francisco with Love, yet White Whale abruptly halted funding before completion; after one final single, “Darlin’ You Can Count on Me,” the Everpresent Fullness disbanded. White Whale eventually met its contractual duties by releasing the unfinished album in 1970.
