Biography
During the middle of the 1990s, Laura Wenzel and Adrienne Rothar launched the Figs as a duo, with Wenzel handling vocals, songwriting, and guitar while Rothar covered vocals, songwriting, and bass. By that point each performer already brought more than ten years of prior involvement in music. Wenzel and Rothar had each pursued solo projects and played in additional all-female rock groups such as Rumour Has It. Their first album, Avalanche, appeared in 2000 and contained ten original compositions, among them “Tree of Shame,” “Givers and Takers,” “Shades of You,” “In Your Eyes,” and “Something About You.” For the sessions Wenzel and Rothar recruited a backing band, which they later retained on a permanent basis. The shift from duo to full ensemble prompted the Figs to adopt the new name Pandora’s Vox.
