Biography
The New Jersey septet the Fins fuse R&B, swing, jazz, big band, and blues into one distinctive and inventive sonic palette. Since forming in the early '90s, the ensemble quickly launched a schedule of live appearances at multiple fundraisers across the New York tri-state region and earned the admiration of former President Bill Clinton through performances at the 1993 and 2000 Democratic conventions plus his 1993 inaugural gala in Landover, MD. To date the group has released two albums: 1997's Bluesprint, named "best debut CD" by the international blues magazine Real Blues, and 2000's Superstar. While promoting the latter, the band performed that summer at an array of international events including the Chicago Blues Festival, Jamaica's Ocho Rios Jazz and Blues Festival, Norway's Notodden Blues Festival, Israel's the Heineken Black & Blues Festival, and Ireland's Harvest Blues Festival. Across their career the Fins have also appeared onstage alongside such notable performers as Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, John Mayall, Otis Rush, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, and former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor.
