Biography
The Danish group Floor emerged from the Hitmakers to issue their sole pop-psychedelic LP, 1st Floor, in 1967. Although the album draws heavily on the lighter strains of British psychedelia, it stands out as a varied collection boasting several memorable tracks, thanks to its elaborate arrangements rooted in classical music, infectious Brit-pop melodies designed for group singing, and buoyant vocal harmonies that merge pop and rock. Echoes of period releases by the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Left Banke surface throughout, yet Floor never approached the inventive spark of those acts.
