Biography
Songwriter Sam Jacobs records under the name The Flying Change, drawn from a Henry Taylor poetry collection whose author once roomed with Jacobs’ father in college. Earlier, as Lipstik, he issued the album Everything Is Good in 2006 and the EP There Is Only One Thing on March 18, 2008. The switch to The Flying Change took place in July 2008. Scarlet Shame Records released the group’s debut album, Pain Is a Reliable Signal, on May 19, 2009; the record serves as a concept work centered on the medical problems faced by Jacobs’ wife and the couple’s struggles with the American healthcare system.
