Biography
Little is documented regarding the short-lived Canadian trio that comprised Tom Martin on bass and vocals, Martha Johnson handling vocals and autoharp—who possessed striking looks and was not the individual who later established Martha & the Muffins—and Paul Seip on guitar and vocals. The group secured a deal with Allied Records toward the close of 1967 or the opening of 1968, an arrangement that yielded their sole long-player, Release the Sunshine. Their style aligned with acts such as William St. James or a pared-back We Five, yet reissue annotator Vincent Tornatore, responsible for the research, found no trace of their name in any Canadian periodical. The members nevertheless delivered pleasing vocal harmonies, and their limited visibility cannot be attributed to insufficient ability or an unmarketable style.
