The Forester Sisters, a vocal quartet consisting of Kathy, June, Kim, and Christy, achieved notable chart success on country radio throughout the second half of the 1980s. Raised in Lookout Mountain, GA, the siblings first performed together as members of their local church choir. After completing college, the two oldest sisters, Kathy and June, accepted teaching positions while continuing to sing in a regional band during evenings. Kim became part of the act in 1978, prompting the group to consider performing as a unit; once Christy graduated, Kathy and June left their teaching roles, allowing the four to begin regular live appearances. Songwriters Bobby Keel and Billy Stone encountered them at an arts festival and arranged a demo session that secured a Warner Bros. contract in 1984; the same pair supplied “Yankee Go Home” for the quartet’s self-titled debut album, released the next year. Their initial single, “That’s What You Do (When You’re in Love),” reached the Top Ten, after which “I Fell in Love Again Last Night” and “Just in Case” each climbed to number one in 1985 and 1986. Although “Lonely Alone” peaked at number two, “Mama’s Never Seen Those Eyes” returned the Forester Sisters to the summit for a third time. They never repeated that early streak of dominance, yet they placed eight additional singles inside the Top Ten in succession until the lighthearted “Men” climbed to number eight in 1991. Occasional recordings followed during the 1990s, including the gospel project Sunday Meetin’ in 1993 and the country album More Than I Am in 1996.
