The Forgotten built provocative themes within the charged orbit of punk revival and Oi!, eventually attracting a devoted following across the United States and Europe, where their charged material ignited enthusiastic crowds. San Jose, CA, natives Gordy Carbone and Craig Fairbaugh launched the group in 1997, with frontman Carbone and guitarist Fairbaugh at the core. Bassist Johnny Gregurich and drummer Dkash, also known as Dave Kashka, completed the lineup, enabling the quartet to begin performing on the regional club circuit. That same year the band cut its debut release, the single Class Separation, for San Francisco’s TKO Records. Momentum from their high-energy performances prompted work on a first full-length, and Veni Vidi Vici appeared in 1999, resonating strongly inside the dedicated punk-rock community; the band supported the album with a U.S. tour alongside U.K. legends Peter and the Test Tube Babies. The following year the Californians returned with their second TKO album, Keep the Corpses Quiet, again earning solid notice. An extended touring period ensued, encompassing multiple European dates. The ten-song EP Ask No Question surfaced shortly before the Europe-only compilation Singles Collection, issued by Core-Tex/Bad Dog Records. Those fruitful European runs secured a deal with American punk indie BYO, which put out the Control Me LP in 2002; the band followed it with Out of Print in May 2003. Fairbaugh meanwhile toured with Lars Frederiksen and the Transplants before joining Mercy Killers and later +44.
