Biography
The Four Jokers formed a vocal harmony ensemble rooted in R&B, with Benjamin Washington handling lead vocals, James Myers on first tenor, Herbert Myers as second tenor, and Charles Holloway anchoring bass. In a marginally altered configuration the same singers issued recordings for Savoy as the Five Pennies and supplied backing for Freddie Scott & the Chimes on the Arrow label, while their lone Sue single—a 1959 pairing titled “Written In The Stars” b/w “The Runaround”—featured an A-side composed by second tenor Herbert Myers.
