The Four Voices

Genre: R&B
Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Emerging from the United States in the mid-1950s, the Four Voices featured Allan Chase on tenor, Sal Mayo also on tenor, Bill McBride handling baritone, and Frank Fosta as bass baritone. An appearance on the Arthur Godfrey television programme brought them to the notice of Columbia Records A&R executive Mitch Miller, who secured their signature in 1955. Their 1956 single ‘Lovely One’ climbed into the Top 20, while a follow-up release reached number 50 on the chart. Five largely uneventful years ensued, after which Allan Chase departed in the early 1960s; the remaining members continued for one more year before accepting anonymity. No albums were ever recorded by the quartet.
