Biography
Formed in 2002, The Gazetteers originated with Frank Boscoe, previously of Vehicle Flips and Wimp Factor 14. Joining forces alongside Steve Silverstein of Christmas Decorations and Rob Christiansen from Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers, Boscoe assembled a collection of wry, angular songs that drew parallels to Jonathan Richman, Pavement, and even Wimp Factor 14. Issued that summer on Portland, OR-based Magic Marker, the band's first full-length effort bore the fitting title Territory Songs, reflecting Boscoe's PhD in geography. For the follow-up album Landlocked!, Andrea McEwen and Jeannine Durfee joined the lineup, with the release appearing in fall 2006 via the group's own Salt in Wound imprint.
