Biography
Isobel Campbell, the singer and songwriter chiefly recognized for her role as cellist and occasional vocalist with Scottish twee phenoms Belle and Sebastian, conceived the orchestral folk-pop of the Gentle Waves. After that band’s 1998 U.S. tour, she recruited fellow members Stuart Murdoch, Richard Colburn, Chris Geddes, Mick Cooke, and Stevie Jackson to record the Gentle Waves’ debut LP, Green Fields of Foreverland, issued by Jeepster Records the next spring. Swansong for You followed in fall 2000.
